Why Choose Us?

We provide in-home visits by a Cat Friendly Veterinarian so that cats and their parents can feel safe, calm, and secure in the comfort of their own home with a veterinarian they can trust.

We understand the challenges and frustrations associated with getting your cats into a carrier, as well as how upsetting it is to listen to them cry and stress out during car rides to the vet.

Sometimes, you may have even hesitated to bring them in due to past negative experiences, leading to worry and sadness from not enabling them to receive the veterinary care that they deserve.

Dr. Boey founded Gentle Whiskers Mobile Cat Vet to alleviate these concerns, while providing high quality in-home feline veterinary care and eliminating the need for carriers and travel.

This means:

-No more chasing down and wrangling your cats into carriers

-No more taking your cats “to the back” away from you

-No more forcefully holding your cats down for procedures

Kenneth Boey, DVM, MS, CVA, CFV

With over 12 years of experience in the veterinary field, 5 of which being a licensed veterinarian, Dr. Boey (who goes by Dr. B) brings a wealth of knowledge in several areas of veterinary medicine. Contrary to a significant portion of veterinarians who have dreamed of becoming one since they were a child, Dr. B did not grow up with household pets nor had much exposure in animal care. His turning point was during high school when a pregnant stray cat casually strolled into his childhood apartment home right in front of him, and the rest was history. He has since dedicated his life to becoming a veterinarian and helping both humans and animals alike.

Dr. B was born and raised on the tropical island city-state of Singapore, where he was first trained and worked as a certified veterinary technician. He was then accepted to veterinary school and relocated to St. Kitts, another tropical island in the Caribbean. Dr. B went on to complete his clinical studies at Oregon State University (Go Beavers!), before practicing at a small animal general practice in Portland. He fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and hoped to stay in the area if he could. Fortunately, Dr. B managed to match with a veterinary residency at the University of Washington (Go Dawgs!) and has lived in the Seattle area ever since.

As part of his dedication to gain further knowledge in the veterinary field, Dr. B has earned two master’s degrees (in One Health and in Comparative Medicine), as well as achieved certification in veterinary acupuncture and as a Cat Friendly Veterinarian. He has had some research experience in veterinary science and infectious disease, particularly in toxoplasmosis, toxocariasis, leptospirosis and malaria. To date, Dr. B has published five research journal articles, which have been cited over 300 times internationally. His first author paper in leptospirosis is a significant citation in one of the ACVIM Consensus Statements on leptospirosis.

To provide cat parents with the invaluable option of low-stress, in-home feline veterinary care, Dr. B established the current sole feline-only mobile veterinary practice north of the Greater Seattle Area in 2025. Being an ailurophile and cat parent himself, he understands the intricacies of caring for such sensitive yet affectionate creatures. Dr. B prioritizes the comfort of both cat parents and their furry feline family members, with his main goal to provide them with high-quality veterinary care while eliminating the stress and challenges associated with bringing cats to a traditional brick-and-mortar veterinary clinic.

Umeko, CFO (Chief Feline Officer)

This floofball was adopted by Dr. B from Everett Animal Shelter in 2021, when animal shelters were still under strict COVID-19 protocols and in-person visits were not possible. Dr. B had a phone interview with them and within 2 minutes of the call, he said “I want this one”. Umeko now runs the household with Dr. B serving as her personal butler.

“Umeko (梅子)” is a Japanese-inspired name stemming from the first character being the same Kanji/Chinese character as Dr. B’s last name in Mandarin Chinese, while also meaning “plum”, and the second character meaning “child”. Her name thus refers to her being Dr. B’s little one, which can also be directly translated as “plum child”. Umeko is 47% Ragdoll, 26% Persian, 15% Domestic Longhair, 12% Siamese and 100% FLOOF.
