No, we do not see emergency cases, including to established clients. If your cat is experiencing a life-threatening condition, please contact your nearest veterinary emergency hospital.
We may offer urgent care availability for minor illnesses (eyes, ears, skin, mild lethargy/vomiting/diarrhea) at our discretion. Severe lethargy/vomiting/diarrhea must be seen at an urgent care or emergency care facility as they will be more equipped to help your sick kitty.

As a new client, please use this link to request for an initial appointment.
For established clients, you will be directed to our internal scheduling system to schedule all other types of appointments.
-
1. After submitting the appointment request form, someone will get back to you within 1 business day to start the appointment confirmation process.
2. If you didn’t submit any previous medical records with the appointment request form, please contact all previous clinics your cat has been to and forward all medical records to info@gentlewhiskers.com. Receipt of previous medical records are required prior to confirmation of your appointment. If no medical records are provided, your cat will need to restart the series of all vaccinations.
3. Read thoroughly and sign the Client Agreement Form prior to confirmation of your appointment.
4. For cats with known aggression: Once your appointment has been confirmed, pre-visit anti-anxiety medications will be mailed to you, which may take several business days for you to receive. Please give these mediations 10-12 hours prior and again 1.5-2 hours prior to the appointment time.
5. Read the FAQ below on how to prepare for a “fear-free” or low stress house call.
6. You and your furry ones are ready to meet Dr. Boey on your appointment day!

We are a proud feline-only mobile practice. We specialize in providing compassionate veterinary care for cats, while being understanding of the intricacies of such sensitive yet affectionate creatures. By focusing only on feline medicine, we hope to provide the best care possible for your sweet kitties!
-
Absolutely! We love meeting all your furry felines. During a single visit, we can provide care for multiple cats, ensuring each one gets the individual attention and treatment they deserve. Additionally, with just one travel fee for the visit, it’s a convenient and cost-effective way to keep all your cats happy and healthy!
-
Based on “fear-free” and low stress handling principles, pioneered by the late Dr. Sophia Yin, administration of pre-visit pharmaceuticals (PVP) or anti-anxiety medications are the basis of managing stressful experiences for your sensitive feline friends and starting the vet visit off on the right foot.
See this article for more information about using gabapentin to reduce feline stress.
The last thing we would wish for is for your cats to be so stressed while not being on the calming medications, such that you would end up either needing injectable sedation for your cats, or having to reschedule the visit altogether. Injectable sedation would cost extra money and time for the visit, and rescheduling a visit would forfeit the full deposit of the original visit.
Please inform us before any visit if you would like for anti-anxiety medications to be provided. They will be shipped to you at your cost.
-
We will work with you to determine an updated plan for pre-visit anti-anxiety medications.
We also offer in-home sedation using injectable anesthetics, which is a rare service provided outside of a traditional veterinary clinic. Your cat will be monitored closely with anesthetic monitoring equipment including oxygen saturation (SpO2), electrocardiography (ECG), internal body temperature and +/- blood pressure. We also have an emergency “crash cart” available on standby stocked with airway maintaining equipment and emergency medications for the extremely rare chance that any patient has an adverse event under injectable sedation.
Dr. Kenneth Boey is also trained in advanced veterinary anesthesia and analgesia at the residency level, so rest assured that your kitties are in good hands!

1. Fill out the intake form within 48 hours of every visit. This will help us understand any changes since your cat’s last visit, and to improve workflow efficiency during the visit.
2. If indicated, please give the prescribed anti-anxiety medications 10-12 hours prior and again 1.5-2 hours prior to the visit. See the FAQ just above for more details.
3. Plug in a Feliway calming pheromone diffuser the night before or the morning of the visit, if not already using it. If using other calming sprays, apply around the anticipated exam space 15-30 mins prior to the anticipated appointment time.
4. Please collect fecal samples the morning of your appointment, even if you do not anticipate submitting it for a fecal test. You never know what services you might wish to get prior to discussing with us. It’s definitely better to have the sample and not need it, rather than need the sample but not have it!
5. Hungry is good! When medically appropriate, slightly reduce the amount of food your cat eats before the visit. This can make treats more appealing during the visit. We will bring treats during the visit, but feel free to provide any special treats that your cat particularly loves!
6. Prepare a secure and comforting space for the exam & consultation. Place familiar items in the space, including a favorite cat bed, blanket or toy. Ideally, plug in a Feliway diffuser in this area before the visit as well to help calm your cat down.
7. Avoid feeling rushed. If you are stressed, your cat will pick it up and may also become stressed. Speak calmly and gently, and be mindful of noises in the environment. If you are clam, happy and relaxed, your cat will be too.
8. It’s time for your house call visit, and Dr. Boey cannot wait to meet your beloved furry felines!
-
The length of a visit depends on the type of services provided. Visits needing injectable sedation or ones that include minor procedures may last longer.
Wellness Exam & Consultation: 45-60 mins
Minor Illness Exam & Consultation: 45-75 mins
Illness Recheck Exam & Consultation: 30-60 mins
-
We can work with you to find a suitable area in your home for the visit. Please inform us of any potential concerns when requesting for each appointment, such as other pets, lack of space, or safety issues.
-
Yes, we carry some commonly prescribed medications. If additional medications are needed, we would utilize our online pharmacy and have them shipped to your home in a few days.
We only provide written prescriptions for products and medications or formulations not available on our online pharmacy for workflow efficiency, or if there is an urgent need to acquire the medications for medical reasons. Our online pharmacy prices are comparable to Costco, Chewy, and other pharmacies.
-
Mobile veterinary care often includes a travel fee, but our service prices are comparable to or even slightly cheaper than traditional brick-and-mortar clinics. The added convenience and reduced stress of not needing to bring a cat in a carrier to the clinic can make it invaluable for many cat parents.
-
While we are able to provide many of the same services, such as exams & consultations, vaccinations, most diagnostics, and minor procedures, some advanced diagnostics and surgeries may require a referral to a full service veterinary clinic. We would be able to direct you to our trusted veterinarian colleagues who can provide these services.
-
Yes, we offer compassionate in-home euthanasia services to ensure your kitty’s final moments are peaceful and comfortable.
We also work directly with our exclusive aftercare provider, Resting Waters, for aquamation/water cremation services. We do not offer traditional flame cremation services.
